Recipe (Untested) - Spicy Whole Roasted Cauliflower

Cauliflower has a smidgen of nicotine.  Although much lower nicotine than eggplant, this recipe for roasted cauliflower from Dr. Nandi caught my eye.

The cruciferous veggies have neurologically important amino acids like cysteine for example, and essential minerals like chromium (in broccoli, not cauliflower) that help regulate blood sugar.

From World's Healthiest Foods:

Cauliflower: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrientprofile&dbid=74

Broccoli: http://whfoods.org/genpage.php?tname=nutrientprofile&dbid=82

In one bite of this dish you've got nicotine, cysteine, curcumin, and vitamin C to name a few key neuro-ingredients.  I think I'll try it :-)  I'll add hot sauce, turmeric, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the glaze...

Spicy Whole Roasted Cauliflower

Spicy Whole Roasted Cauliflower Ingredients 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 head cauliflower 1½ cups plain Greek yogurt 1 lime, zested and juiced 2 tablespoons chile powder 1 tablespoon cumin 1 tablespoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon curry powder 2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon black pepper Directions 1. Preheat the oven to 400° and lightly grease a small baking sheet with vegetable oil. Set aside. 2. Trim the base of the cauliflower to remove any green leaves and the woody stem. 3. In a medium bowl, combine the yogurt with the lime zest and juice, chile powder, cumin, garlic powder, curry powder, salt and pepper. 4. Dunk the cauliflower into the bowl and use a brush or your hands to smear the marinade evenly over its surface. (Excess marinade can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to three days and used with meat, fish or other veggies.) 5. Place the cauliflower on the prepared baking sheet and roast until the surface is dry and lightly browned, 30 to 40 minutes. The marinade will make a crust on the surface of the cauliflower. 6. Let the cauliflower cool for 10 minutes before cutting it into wedges and serving alongside a big green salad. #namaste #nomnomnom #yummyveggies #detroitdoc #recipe #askdrnandi

Don't forget your sunroof and driver's window

Sunlight and fresh air while driving has also helped my circadian rhythm.

My selfie today:

Two Tips for Your Walk in the Sun - Stretching & Sun on the Face

Tip 1: Gastroc Stretch

Do this stretch, even deeper than pictured for at least 40 seconds, and perhaps several times.

This is great for counteracting Parkinson's-related dystonia like toe curling or foot cramps.  This is because the tow-curling and foot cramps are caused by spasms like "Charlie-horses" in the calf muscles.  So I've found daily walking after stretching deep like this keeps the calves loose and comfortable.

Tip 2: Find a route that let's you walk a long distance toward the sun (for 1/2 way)

Blue light from the sun on your face helps your circadian rhythm.  I explain this in my book.

So if you get a nice long walk with uninterrupted sun on your eyes, ears, and face you're improving the balances of melatonin and dopamine, and the overall circadian rhythm.  You're also getting some color without over-doing it.  And the color is also good, because it creates nutrient stores throughout your body - which I also explain in the book.

Here's a shot I took after a day at work on Oahu.  I went down and walked from east Diamond Head west towards Honolulu at 6:00pm - in the Hawaiin sun :-)  (exceptional sun no doubt)

Recipe - Aubergine Yogurt

- Freeze one Chinese eggplant.
- Remove from freezer and let thaw 5 minutes or so until frost forms on skin.
- With a fine cheese grater, grate about 5 inches of eggplant and fill a cereal bowl with the flakes.
- As soon as possible before the flakes oxidize brown, mix in about 6 to 8 oz Fage strained Greek yogurt (plain).
- Mix until homogenous. A fork is good for this.
- Mash one whole banana and mix this in.
- Top with Goji berries, blueberries, and/or papaya

Enjoy once a day :-)

Helps with movement, rigidity, dystonia, and cognition.

Cheers

Eggplant, Green Tea, and Intranasal Glutathione in My Diet Are Effectively Removing Toxics

As I briefly discuss in my book, eggplant, green tea, and intranasal glutathione in my diet are removing toxic metals from my body. For eggplant, www.nasunin.com explains that nasunin in eggplant can chelate metals with positive valence.

As the chart below shows, even after 7 months of these dietary elements I had toxic levels of metals, including uranium!

At 14 months, toxic levels had been reduced somewhere between 65 and 85 %.

But I had to be careful to put back essential minerals that also were being depleted (perhaps because they too are positive valence).

To balance, I eat foods that have or supplement for: calcium, magnesium, molybdenum, chromium, potasium, manganese, and lithium.

Be sure to have an ND watch your toxics metals and essential elements.  These tests were done by Doctor's Data of Chicago.

Checkout my book :-)

Glen

Not Only Have I Reversed and Halted My Parkinson's - I'm Way More Productive!

In my book, I talk about all the various physical symptoms I improved or eliminated.  But what I didn't mention is that the Powerful Food, exercise, sun, and circadian rhythm care I engage in has made me much more productive.

  • In my consulting practice, I was consistently in the top 3 performers in my company of 500 employees.  In the last year, I worked 4 additional months.  About a 50% increase.
  • I make better prioritizations and executive decisions.  I have had zero customer or management complaints, and more repeat business than I know what to do with.
  • In the same time-frame I wrote the book, attend support group meetings locally and elsewhere, and conduct radio shows at the generous request of Robert Rodgers.
  • I have at the same time continued to write grant proposals, and pitch for opportunities for my company I founded, Automated Energy and Agriculture.  www.aeabioenergy.com
  • My time with home and family is also better, and I am providing for them better.

I feel so blessed to be a person with Parkinson's who is improving!

I'm trying to get the word out, please help me spread it.

I'm not the only one who can find improvement with Powerful Food & A Walk In The Sun.

God Bless,

Only 40% of Parkinson's Patients Seek and Use Complimentary Therapies - Why?

A 2001 paper in Neurology was entitled:

"The use of alternative therapies by patients with Parkinson’s disease" by authors Pam R. Rajendran, BA, Richard E. Thompson, PhD and Stephen G. Reich, MD
http://www.neurology.org/content/57/5/790.short

The paper explained that only 40% of Parkinson's patients tried any complimentary therapies.

This is baffling considering the substantial improvements I saw, and methods I followed and explain in my book - for example.

Does conventional medicine have a "Stockholm Syndrome" effect on patients?

Don't be discouraged by your physicians from trying complimentary therapies... contary to that thinking you're not rejecting your diagnosis or conventional medicine - you're just "Getting Complimentary". And feeling better!

EGCG, A Powerful Neuro-protectant in Green Tea, Also Activates The Cannabinoid Receptors!

Forgive the Wikipedia reference on this one - I promise to dig deeper.

To my surprise I found out that EGCG, the powerful neuro-protectant in green tea, also activates at least the CB1 cannabinoid (same as cannibis, THC) receptor.

Look at the section under Ligands on this Wikipedia:

http://www.naturalnews.com/035380_curcumin_degenerative_disease_brain.html

It lists EGCG as "Agonist" for CB1 :-)

I will dig for papers on this.

In my book I explain how I incorporate lots of green tea in my diet.

Curcumin Found to Prevent Alpha- Synuclein "Clumping", and Therefore Halt Parkinson's Progression

I mention in my book that I sprinkle liberal amounts of spice turmeric on my foods.
